29th December At First Lane, South Anston was a report of a Red Kite flying south mid afternoon, also Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel all hunting and 22 Fieldfare and a Woodcock (Mick Clay).

24th December At Axle Lane were 149 Golden Plover, 19 Yellowhammer, 2 Bullfinch, a Song Thrush and 2 Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay).

19th December A tour of SK58 Wetlands produced 29 Mallard and 2 Moorhen at Roche Abbey. Langold Lake held 88 Canada Goose, 25 Coot, 14 Moorhen, 29 Mallard, 16 Tufted Duck, 3 Mute Swan, 1 m Pochard and 5 Great Crested Grebe. Carlton Lake held 21 Mallard. At Brown Bailey's were 39 Tufted Duck, 7 Coot, 5 Canada Goose, 2 Mute Swan, 1 Mallard and 1 Great Crested Grebe. Hewett Arms pond held 10 Mallard and 3 Moorhen (Brian Chambers).

17th December This morning at Tommy Flockton's Marsh were c20 Redwing, 7 Blackbird, a pair of Mute Swan >SW, 5 Mallard, 6 Grey Partridge, Grey Wagtail, 11 Black-headed Gull, Willow Tit and a f Kestrel. Nearby Grange Farm, Loscar held 71 Black-headed Gull >SW, Little Owl by Grange Farm, 2 Buzzard, 12 Tree Sparrow, 3 Skylark >S and a Kestrel. Over at Langold Lake were 31 Coot, 3 Mute Swan, 8 Tufted Duck, 37 Mallard, 8 Moorhen, 6 Great Crested Grebe, 3 pairs of Gadwall, single m Pochard, 2 ad Heron, single Kingfisher, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 6 Siskin and a single Common Gull (Andy Hirst). Flying south over Axle Lane were 25 Cormorant (Mick Clay).

15th December Mid morning >E over North Anston were 70 Pink-footed Geese (James Clay).

11th December A male Blackcap in a Throapham garden this morning (Andy Hirst).

Nearby Firbeck held 4 Coot, 2 Mute Swan, 9 Mallard, 2 Greylag Geese, 3 Moorhen and a Tufted Duck. Moving on to Langold Lake and counts of 45 Mallard, 15 Tufted Duck, 27 Coot, 3 Mute Swan, 4 Great Crested Grebe, Greylag Goose, 5 Moorhen, 11 Gadwall, single m Pochard, Heron, and 2 Common Gull.

Carlton Lake was quiet with just 24 Mallard, single Mute Swan, Moorhen and 2 Teal. Works at Brown Bailey's meant numbers were low with 12 Coot, Great Crested Grebe, 11 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, and 2 Moorhen. At Shireoaks Pond were 7 Mallard and single Heron. Nearby Hewett Arms Pond yielded 13 Mallard, 2 Coot, single Tufted Duck and 2 Moorhen. A generally quiet period, although some movement of wildfowl at Langold- notably the departure of the Grebes and arrival of Gadwall (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay & John Gallagher).

20th November A wetlands tour of SK58 produced 6 Teal, 23 Mallard, 4 Moorhen at Roche Abbey. At Langold Lake were 36 Coot, 12 Tufted Duck, 1 m Pochard, 37 Mallard, 239 Canada Goose, 2 Greylag Goose, 8 Moorhen, 2 m & 1 f Goosander, 6 Great Crested Grebe and 2 Heron. At Carlton Lake were a Cormorant, 16 Mallard, a Mute Swan and a Moorhen. At Brown Bailey's were 12 Coot, 11 Mallard, 30 Tufted Duck, 2 Moorhen, a Mute Swan and 2 Great Crested Grebe. 17th November At Gildingwells were 10 Gadwall, a Kestrel, 120 Starling, a Jay and 30 Fieldfare (John Gallagher).

16th November At Langold Lake were a Greylag Goose, 2 Kestrel, 2 Jay, m Pochard, 4 Gadwall, 8 Bullfinch, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 40 Siskin and 50 Fieldfare (John Gallagher).

13th November Early morning over Axle Lane were 200 Pink-footed Geese >E and 200 Golden Plover by the ponds (Mick Clay).

12th November At NAPT this morning were 9 Mallard, 14 Black-headed Gull, 6 Reed Bunting, 2 Bullfinch, 26 Goldfinch, Willow Tit and steady passage of Lesser Redpoll & Skylark. From Kings Wood corner were 2 Nuthatch, c200 Woodpigeon, 6 Buzzard and a teady passage of Fieldfare. Langold Lake produced 40 Mallard, 11 Tufted Duck, 24 Coot, 2ad & 1imm Mute Swan, 10 Great Crested rebe, ingle Greylag Goose, 11 Moorhen, Kingfisher, c20 Siskin, 4 Lesser Redpoll, Heron, Kestrel, 3 Buzzard & 204 Canada Geese (Andy Hirst).

11th November At Langold Lake were, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Mute Swans, 1 Greylag Goose, 220 Canada Goose, 1 m Pochard, 14 Tufted Duck, 8 Redwing, 1 Fieldfare and 2 Treecreeper (Geoff and Lyn Facer).

10th November At Lamb Lane were 180 Golden Plover. Stubbing Wood produced a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Goldcrest, 2 Nuthatch and a Marsh Tit. At Brands Lane were 180 Linnet, 30 Yellowhammer, 10 Reed Bunting, 20 Skylark, a Kestrel and a Sparrowhawk (John Gallagher). At Langold Lake were 7 Great Crested Grebe, a m Pochard, 3 Buzzard, a Kestrel, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Green Woodpeckers, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 8 Fieldfare, 2 Bullfinch and 3 Treecreeper (Mick Clay).

9th November Early morning at Thurcroft Pit Top were 170 Black-headed Gull in roost and a Peregrine >E. Roche Abbey produced 4 Marsh Tit (John Gallagher). At Axle Lane were 339 Golden Plover, 15 Skylark and 19 Grey Partridge (Mick Clay).

8th November At NAPT were 17 Snipe and a Jack Snipe (John Gallagher). Outside the square it was reported that 18 Waxwings flew over Jubb Close at Brecks >SW. (This record was forwarded onto SK58 for information by Tony Kettle).

7th November At Axle Lane were 150 Golden Plover, a Buzzard and 63 Pink-footed Geese >E (Mick Clay).

2nd November At Langold Lake, were a f Teal, a pair of Wigeon, 2 Kingfisher, 80 Siskin, 3 Redpoll, a Grey Wagtail and a Raven >NW. At Hodsock were 2 Grey Wagtail, 10 Snipe and 4 Teal (John Gallagher).

1st November Early morning at Axle Lane were 200 Golden Plover and f Peregrine with a Golden Plover (Mick Clay).

26th October A number of birds were heading East over NAPT including a Brambling, 11 Lesser Redpoll and 120 Pink-footed Goose, whilst heading South were 42 Meadow Pipit, 11 Skylark, 2 Song Thrush and 6 Redwing. Also seen were 2 Willow Tit, a Green Woodpecker, a Chiffchaff, 2 Snipe and a Grey Wagtail. On Axle Lane the Golden Plover count increased to circa 400 (Mick Clay).

24th October At Axle Lane circa 350 Golden Plover were again by the main path (Mick Clay).

21st October At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were a Kingfisher, 9 Grey Partridge, Sparrowhawk and 5 f Goosander. Langold Lake produced a single m Pochard. At Yew Tree Farm pond in Firbeck were a Little Grebe and a single f Goosander (John Gallagher).

20th October At Axle Lane were 150 Golden Plover and a Wheatear on the wall (Mick Clay).

19th October At NAPT were a Green Woodpecker, 2 Siskin, 5 Bullfinch, 2 Willow Tit, Reed Bunting, Grey Wagtail, 8 Grey Partridge, 11 Meadow Pipit, 2 Lesser Redpoll, 50 Goldfinch and 31 Lapwing >W. At Brampton Common were 4 Jay. Roche Abbey produced 3 Marsh Tit and 4 Jay (John Gallagher). Late evening on Axle Lane were 207 Golden Plover (Mick Clay).

18th October Late evening on Axle Lane were 200 Golden Plover and 3 Fieldfare (Mick Clay).

16th October A walk around Kiveton Woodlands produced 5 Goldfinch, 8 Blue Tit, 3 Great Tit, 8 Long-tailed Tit, 4 Magpie, 2 Moorhen, 5 Dunnock, 5 Chaffinch, a Green Woodpecker, a Fieldfare, 4 Black-headed Gull, a Pheasant and 4 Blackbird (Paul Rigg).

13th October Over Laughton Common were 120 Pink-footed Goose >E at 17:30 (John Gallagher).

7th October At Kiveton Pit Top were a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 20+ Goldfinch, a Robin, 3 Reed Bunting plus a Hare, a Water Vole and a Brown Rat (Darren Carnall).

6th October At Roche Abbey were 2 Marsh Tit, 3 Siskin, a Lesser Redpoll >S, 3 Nuthatch, a Grey Wagtail, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 juv Sparrowhawk, 8 Buzzard, 14 Teal and a Little Grebe. There were 20 Buzzard over Sandbeck. Also Pink-footed Goose calling over South Anston and 200 Skylark >S over Axle Lane (Mick Clay). At Thurcroft Pit Top were 5 Snipe, a Jack Snipe, a Redpoll >S, 4 Chiffchaff and a Sparrowhawk. Langold Lake produced 3 Jay, Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 21 Siskin, ad and juv Green Woodpecker (John Gallagher). Circa 125 Pink-footed Goose >W over Lindrick Golf Course (Brian Chambers). At Kiveton Pit Top were a Jay, a Kestrel, a Moorhen and 30+ Golden Plover in flight over fields near the motorway (Darren Carnall).

5th October At Axle Lane were 60 Golden Plover. At NAPT were 3 Redwing, 2 Song Thrush, 3 Willow Tit, 3 Bullfinch, 2 Chiffchaff, 60 Goldfinch, a Buzzard, 6 Swallow >S and a large movement of Meadow Pipit >S (Mick Clay). At Kiveton Pit Top were 4 Moorhen, 6 Reed Bunting, 20+ Goldfinch, a Kestrel and 5 Mallard (Darren Carnall).

4th October At Brampton Common were 5 Mistle Thrush. At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 42 Mallard, single Kingfisher, Teal, Snipe and Kestrel as well as 7 Grey Partridge. At Axle Lane was a single Yellow-legged Gull (John Gallagher). There were also 150 Golden Plover on Axle Lane (Mick Clay). At Kiveton Pit Top were 20+ Goldfinch, 12 Long-tailed Tit, a Jay, 100 Starlings, a Kestrel and 2 Mistle Thrush (Darren Carnall).

3rd October At Kiveton Pit Top were 2 Bullfinch, 20+ Goldfinch, 3 Moorhen, a Kestrel, 40 Black-headed Gull, 12 Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Jay and a Snipe in flight (Darren Carnall).

30th September Early evening on Axle Lane were 28 Golden Plover which were flushed by female Merlin (Mick Clay).

27th September At Harry Crofts Quarry were a Gadwall, a Teal, 12 Mallard, 11 Pied Wagtail, a Yellow Wagtail, a Snipe and a Jack Snipe (John Gallagher).

23rd September At Kiveton Pit Top were 6 Linnet, 30+ Goldfinch and 2 Mallard >W (Darren Carnall).

Kingfisher @ Woodsetts © Chris Lilley22nd September At Axle Lane was a Wheatear f. At Kings Wood Corner were 4 Cormorant >N and a Peregrine hunting woodside (John Gallagher & Andy Murray). Also present on Axle Lane was a Yellow-legged Gull with 300 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 40 Skylark, 49 House Martin >S and 7 Cormorant >N (Mick Clay). At Kiveton fisheries at the side of the community woodland was a Ring-necked Parakeet (Alan Bateman). At Kiveton Pit Top were 2 Cormorant >W, a Jay, a m Merlin unsuccesfully attacking a small finch in the air, a f Sparrowhawk and a Short-eared Owl (Darren Carnall). A Red Kite was seen drifting NE over Woodsetts towards Wallingwells (Gareth Picton).

21st September At Brampton Common were 50 Linnet, 10 Meadow Pipit, Little Owl, 2 Mistle Thrush, 6 Robin, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Kestrel, 7 Cormorant >W, 5 Greylag Geese >W. At Barton Wood off Lodge Lane were 3 Hobby. At Smarson Hills, were a Red Kite and a Raven (John Gallagher & Andy Murray).

20th September A first year male Kingfisher was a suprise catch in a net whilst ringing birds at Woodsetts (Chris Lilley). At Langold Lake were a Kingfisher and Great Crested Grebe with 3 very young juv. (John Gallagher & Andy Murray).

16th September At Langold Lake were a Black-headed Gull, Buzzard, 8 Canada Goose, Carrion Crow, 30 Coot, 2 groups of Greated Crested Grebe, Grey Wagtail, Mute Swan, Robin, 6 Swallow and 6 Tufted Duck (Paul Rigg).

9th September At Axle Lane were 300 Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Whinchat on the main path near cross-over path (Mick Clay).

8th September At Buckwood Farm there was a Barn Owl. At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were a Kingfisher, 8 Grey Partridge, 80 Goldfinch and 2 Mistle Thrush. At Thurcroft Pit Top were 2 juv Green Woodpecker, Jay, 5 Buzzard, 2 ad and 5 juv Bullfinch. At Lingodell were a Blackcap, 6 Yellow Wagtail, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kingfisher and a Sparrowhawk. At Langold Lake were 4 juv and ad Tufted Duck, Kingfisher, Jay, Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, and ad Great Crested Grebe (John Gallagher). Mid morning at Axle Lane were 300 Lesser Black-backed gulls, 2 Whitethroat, 2 Wheatear, a Kestrel and a record 8 Buzzard and at the same time 4 more Buzzard over Brampton Common. At Dinnington Marsh were 3 Blackcap, 8 Chiffchaff, 4 Bullfinch, a Grey Wagtail and 2 Kestrel. At NAPT 3 were a Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff, a Willow Tit, 10 Long-tailed Tit, 5 Blue Tit and a Kestrel (Mick Clay).

7th September At Harry Crofts Quarry were Buzzard, Little Owl, Green Woodpecker and a Yellow Wagtail >S. At NAPT were 6 Chiffchaff, 6 Bullfinch, 2 Willow Tit, 2 Grey Wagtail, a Sparrowhawk and a Buzzard. On Axle Lane were 2 Buzzard, a Kestrel, a Golden Plover and a Wheatear (Mick Clay).

6th September On Axle Lane were 3 Wheatear and 16 Golden Plover (Mick Clay).

5th September Early morning on Axle Lane were 2 Wheatear and 15 Golden Plover (Mick Clay). The same time at NAPT produced 2 Blackcap, 1 f and 1 Juv and 2 Whitethroat (Farrell Kent).

4th September Early morning at NAPT were 6 Chiffchaff, 4 Willow Warbler, 2 Whitethroat, 3 Willow Tit, 5 Robin, 6 Dunnock, 3 Bullfinch and a Kingfisher. At Axle Lane early evening were 2 Hobby hunting dragonflies and 200 Swallow and House Martin (Mick Clay).

3rd September A pair of Marsh Tit visiting Chris's garden feeder in North Anston today at 5.00pm (Chris Lilley).

1st September At Axle Lane the Golden Plover count increased to 24 (Mick Clay).

31st August At Axle Lane this morning were 20 Golden Plover in the recently ploughed field and 10 Grey Partridge (Farrell Kent).

29th August On Axle Lane were 150 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 450 Black-headed Gull and 60 Swallow (Mick Clay).

28th August A pair of Raven were sighted at 09.30 >NE east of Swinston Hill Wood and again at 11.40 >S towards Dewidales (Chris Lilley). At Lindrick golf course were 2 Kingfisher flying alongside the River Ryton by the 4th green (Brian Chambers).

27th August At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 15 Mallard and a Common Sandpiper (Brian Chambers).

26th August Early morning at Axle Lane were a juv Peregrine hunting, 38 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Sparrowhawk, 12 Reed Bunting and 2 Yellow Wagtail and at midday 5 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, Little Owl, 50 Swallow and 30 House Martin by the ponds. At NAPT were a Tree Pipit and Yellow Wagtail >S also in the Willow Coppice area were 4 Willow Warbler, 5 Whitethroat and a Spotted Flycatcher, there were 2 Reed Warbler by the entrance (Mick Clay).

25th August At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were a Green Sandpiper and a Clouded Yellow butterfly (Mick Clay).

24th August At Carr were 4 Little Owl in barn windows, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 30 Swallow, Yellow Wagtail and 6 Tree Sparrow. At Thurcroft Pit Top juv Common Buzzard, 8 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap and 3 Willow Warbler. At Harry Crofts quarry were 2 Whimbrel >S calling, a Green Sandpiper calling also Wheatear. At Axle Lane were a Buzzard and Whinchat. At Slade Hooton there were 100 Swallow on wires. Late evening on Axle lane were 9 Golden Plover flying around the fields (Mick Clay).

23rd August The first Wheatear of the season was on the wall at Axle Lane, also 12 Reed Bunting mainly juv and 3 Yellow Wagtail >S (Mick Clay).

20th August A visit to the SK58 wetland sites today produced 29 Greylag Geese, 31 Mallard and 2 Heron at the Hewett Arms. At Brown Bailey's were 10 Coot, 2 Mallard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Tufted Duck, and a Heron. At Carlton Lake were 13 Mallard. At Langold Lake were 64 Mallard, 23 Coot, 1 Tufted Duck, 6 Moorhen, 2 adt & 3 juv Great Crested Grebe, 15 Canada Geese, 4 Mute Swan, 1 ad & 1 juv Common Tern and a Kingfisher (Brian Chambers).

18th August On Axle Lane after the rain were 25 Common Whitethroat, mainly juvenile birds (Mick Clay).

17th August Early morning >S over Axle Lane was a Sand Martin (Mick Clay).

12th August Kingfisher at Kingswood Close, Firbeck today at noon. Has been seen quite a lot recently (Dave Wright).

11th August >NE over South Anston was a Hobby at mid day (Mick Clay).

10th August This morning at Harry Crofts Quarry a Green Sandpiper >S, 16 Goldfinch, 22 Yellowhammer, 31 Linnet, 10 Whitethroat, mostly juv. birds, 5 Mallard, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls >S, Green Woodpecker, 8 Chaffinch, 2 Chiffchaff & 3 Stock Dove. It was quiet at NAPT with single Chiffchaff & 2 Whitethroat by the hide. 8 Lesser Black-backed Gulls >S, 2 Willow Tit, one still feeding young, m Sparrowhawk, 10 Black-headed Gulls >S, 2 Skylark >S, 4 House Martin and c20 Swift >S (Andy Hirst). At 4pm in a wheat field behind Ivy Lodge Plantation was a calling Quail (Dave Wright).

9th August Late evening a juv Long-eared Owl was calling on Goss Common (Mick Clay).

7th August >NE over Axle Lane was a Common Tern and late in the evening at the same location were circa 500 Swift (Mick Clay).

6th August An evening walk from Woodsetts to Corn Mill Farm produced Whinchat, 60 Linnet, 40 Goldfinch, 3 Bullfinch, 4 Yellowhammer, 4 Tree Sparrow, 4 Willow Warbler, 4 Yellow Wagtail, 100 Swallow, 60 House Martin, 6 Stock Dove, Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Sparrowhawk (Andy Murray, John Gallagher & Mick Clay).

1st August This morning at the bottom of Penny Hill, Firbeck was a report of a Turtle Dove which flew out of roadside trees before re-entering the trees (David Wright).

28th July Grasshopper Warbler reeling by the sewage works at NAPT early morning (Andy Hirst).

27th July At Hodsock this morning were Sedge Warbler, Chiffchaff, 3 Yellowhammer, 20 Linnet, 15 Goldfinch, 3 Whitethroat, 60 Swallow, c30 Swift and a m Grey Wagtail. Langold Lake held 2 pairs of Great Crested Grebe, one pair with 3 small young. Also present were 2 f Tufted Duck, 2 ad, 2 juv. Mute Swan. Plus hunting Hobby over Carlton Lake (Andy Hirst). At NAPT were 3 Grasshopper Warbler (2 ad and 1 juv), 5 Common Whitethroat, 2 Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Grey Wagtail, 5 Reed Warbler (4 Juv), 4 Reed Bunting and Song Thrush. Also 37 Gate Keepers, 42 Meadow Brown, 2 Small Skipper, 4 Ringlet, Comma, Peacock and a Small Copper (Mick Clay, Brian Chambers & Ivan Keeton).

26th July At Axle Lane were 2 Corn Bunting singing, 7 Reed Bunting, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 200 Swift, Peregrine and 2 Common Buzzard, one of which was displaying. In addition there were over 3000 Small White butterflies in the rape fields (Mick Clay).

10th July Late in the evening at Dinnington Marsh were a Long-eared Owl and Little Owl (Andy Murray, Brian Chambers & Mick Clay).

9th July At Axle Lane this morning was a Corn Bunting singing by the stone wall (Mick Clay). At Cinderhill there was a Spotted Flycatcher and at the Toplocks stretch of the Chesterfield Canal, Shireoaks, were 4 Grey Wagtail. At Shireoaks Lake were 2 ad Great Crested Grebe with 1 young, 2 Tufted Duck and a Heron (Brian Chambers). This evening in the fields N of Rackford Lane were 2 Mistle Thrush, a Red-legged Partridge and a Yellowhammer (Farrell Kent).

8th July At 2 High Street, South Anston was a male Blackcap in song, probably a failed bird moving South? (Mick Clay).

6th July At Langold Lake were 3 Common Tern and 2 Green Woodpecker (John Gallagher). The following butterflies were recorded at NAPT, 34 Ringlet,19 Meadow Brown,14 Small Heath, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 2 Common Blue, 2 Small Skipper, 6 Five Spotted Burnet moths and single Cinnabar moth. At Dinnington Marsh there were 26 Ringlet, 7 Meadow Brown, 1 Small White, 1 Speckled Wood, 3 Large Skipper, 2 Small Skipper, 4 Five Spotted Burnet moths. At Harry Crofts were 8 Ringlet, 14 Meadow Brown, 12 Small Heath, 3 Small Tortoiseshell, 7 Common Blue and a single Small Skipper (Mick Clay).

18th May This afternoon at Axle Lane produced Hobby hunting before >S and m & f Whinchat (Mick Clay). Plus 7 Yellow Wagtail, f Wheatear and Corn Bunting (Geoff Facer, Brian Chambers). At Hodsock today were Ringed Plover and 2 pairs of Gadwall. At Carlton Lake were 2 Sedge Warbler and a pair of Gadwall (John Gallagher). During the Big Sit at the hide at NAPT, a total of 46 species were recorded-the highlight an Osprey >N at 07:45. Other birds included c12 Lapwing with c15 juv's (Andy Hirst).

17th May At Axle Lane today, a pair of Whinchat in rape, 10 Reed Bunting (some carrying nesting material in rape), 6 Yellow Wagtail and Corn Bunting (John Gallagher & Mick Clay).

16th May A Common Sandpiper at Langold Lake (top lake) and at Hodsock a pair of Gadwall, 4 Yellow Wagtail and Wheatear (John Gallagher).

16th March At Langold Lake today were 10 Great Crested Grebe. Hodsock held 200 Fieldfare, 50 Redwing, 120 Starling & 30 Teal. At a rainy Thurcroft Marsh were 3 Woodcock (John Gallagher).

12th March c40 Waxwing flew over the Tesco car park on Gateford Road at Worksop at 14:30 (Per BirdGuides). 17:40 at NAPT both Long-eared Owl and Barn Owl hunting. Also report of 2 Barn Owl and possibly Short-eared Owl at Gildingwells (Mick Clay).

In a Langold garden today were a pair of Great Spotted Woodpecker, 11 Goldfinch, 5 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 2 Dunnock, a pair of Siskin, 5 House Sparrow, 2 Carrion Crow, Magpie, Wren, 3 Blackbird, 8 Starling, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, 2 Collared Dove, 3 Woodpigeon & a Mistle Thrush (Alan & Pauline Bradford).

7th March In a Langold garden today were 11 Starling, 2 Woodpigeon, 3 Collared Dove, 2 Robin, 3 Blackbird, 2 Great Tit, Blue Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 House Sparrow, Coal Tit, 3 Chaffinch, 2 Dunnock, 3 Greenfinch, 2 Carrion Crow, 2 Magpie, 17 Goldfinch and a Waxwing (Alan & Pauline Bradford). A Red Kite drifted over Tommy Flockton's Marsh this afternoon (Alan Bateman).

21st February At Thurcroft Pit Top today were Jack Snipe, 6 Snipe, 3 Tufted Duck, 4 Coot, c60 Black-headed Gull, Common Gull & 2 Grey Partridge (Brian Chambers).

19th February From Common Road at the rear of the house near the dump-it site, a Short-eared Owl hunting and Little Owl in the tree by nest box. At Thurcroft Pit Top another Short-eared Owl, Tawny Owl, Buzzard and at least 8 Woodcock (Mick Clay & Brian Chambers).

17th February Early evening at Thurcroft Pit Top produced a Short-eared Owl, Long-eared Owl at dusk by the marsh, 2 Woodcock, 8 Grey Partridge, Song Thrush,Willow Tit, a pair of Kestrel, Buzzard and a pair of Tawny Owl calling on Steadfolds Lane (Mick Clay).

5th February 2 pairs of Goosander at Langold Lake today (David Wright).

3rd February Langold Lake held 3m and 2f Goosander. Yew Tree Farm Pond produced 45 Greylag Geese and a Little Grebe. Thurcroft Pit Top revealed a Jack Snipe (John Gallagher).

2nd February The Little Egret still present at Kiveton Pit Top, plus Water Rail (Alan Bateman). A flock of Waxwing also here (John Gallagher).

Langold Lake was very sparse, except for a single Greylag Goose, ad and juv Great Crested Grebe, 22 Tufted Duck, a pair of Pochard and a pair of Goosander. Hodsock Flash held 9 Brambling (John Gallagher & David Wright). What is no doubt the same flock- 28 Waxwing feeding on Pyracantha berries behind bungalows on Saxon Road, close to Kiveton Cross Roads (Brian Chambers).

16th January At a frozen & foggy Langold Lake were 2ad & 3imm Mute Swan, 29 Mallard, 7 Moorhen, 5 Gadwall, 20 Coot, 7 Tufted Duck, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Common Gull, 37 Black-headed Gull, 15 Siskin & Tawny Owl calling mid-morning. Nearby Hodsock was alive with birds; 88 Brambling the highlight, being more than double the highest previous count in 1997. Plus 50 Chaffinch, 120 Goldfinch, c20 Reed Bunting, 2 Buzzard, 28 Lapwing, 31 Skylark, 6 Yellowhammer, c100 Linnet, 10 Pied Wagtail, 2 Lesser Redpoll, Jack Snipe & 5 Snipe. Brown Bailey's was again almost frozen solid, although there were 14 Coot, Mute Swan & 9 Tufted Duck. At NAPT were 24 Lesser Redpoll plus 3 pairs of Mallard, although the highlight was a single Woodcock (Andy Hirst). Also here mid afternoon was a Barn Owl, mobbed by Magpies (Tony Hancock).

14th January At Langold Lake today were were 3 Great Crested Grebe, Heron, 5 Mute Swan, m Shoveler, 1f Pochard, 12 Tufted Duck, 2m & f Goosander, Buzzard, 30 Fieldfare, 5 Redwing and 30 Goldfinch (Geoff & Lyn Facer). Also seen here, with some overlap; a pair of Goosander and m Shovelor (David Wright).

13th January Along Brands Lane today were 70 Yellowhammer, 12 Goldfinch, 3 Mistle Thrush, Reed Bunting, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 35 Skylark & 30 Chaffinch. A Brambling. SW> over Lingodell and 2 Raven over South Anston. Langold Lake held 3 pairs of Goosander plus 2 Tawny Owl calling (John Gallagher). In addition, at Langold Lake were m Gadwall, 23 Coot, 6 Tufted Duck & 14 Mallard. At Brown Bailey's were 31 Tufted Duck, and a Mute Swan with a further Mute Swan at NAPT (Brian Chambers).

At NAPT a female/imm Merlin >NE and 5 Waxwing >E (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay & Michelle Dawes). Single Moorhen by the mill stream down the hill, 50+ Canada Geese, 3 Greylag Geese, 4 Crow. Single Buzzard, a pair of Kestrel & 9 Red-legged Partridge (Graham Phillips).

3rd January c350 Pink-footed Geese >W in 3 skeins over Lindrick Golf Course c10:30 (Brian Chambers).

2nd January Woodcock flew >S from Stubbin Wood, Firbeck. Apparently disturbed by beaters (David Wright).

1st January At NAPT today were 50 Pink-footed Geese >S. The wader scrape is at near full capacity but Here were 2 Jack Snipe and 10 Snipe in one small area. At Carlton Lake were 3m Goosander. Kings Wood produced 4 Buzzard and 7 Marsh Tit. At Roche Abbey were 2 Kestrel, 3 Bullfinch and 50 Siskin and 12 Tree Sparrow at Lingodell (Mick Clay).

30th December At Thurcroft Pit Top, 3 Cormorant dropped in plus Snipe, Jack Snipe and 3 Buzzard (John Gallagher, Andy Murray & Mick Clay).
