30th December At Kiveton Pit Top (Kiveton Community Woodland) this morning were 5 Reed Bunting, 3 Bullfinch, f Kestrel, 3 Redwing, 17 Fieldfare, Greenfinch, 7 Lesser Redpoll, Siskin, 2 Coal Tit, 20 Long-tailed Tit, Song Thrush & Brambling. At Tommy Flockton's Marsh and Chesterfield Canal were 7 Teal, 24 Wigeon, 15 Mallard, 2 Little Egret, 2 Pied Wagtail, Grey Heron, 2 Greenfinch, Bullfinch, 3 Goldcrest, 7 Long-tailed Tit & Marsh Tit (John Williamson).

27th December 7 Goosander on Langold Lake today (Howard Chapman).

26th December At Axle Lane today were 260 Golden Plover, 12 Lapwing and 10 Cormorant on the pond (Bill Buchanan).

22nd December Axle Lane produced 2 Buzzard, 27 Herring Gull and 400 Black-headed Gull (Mick Clay).

21st December 120 Pink-footed Goose >W over Dinnington. At Hodsock, a pair of Goosander >W, Red Kite, skeins of Pink-footed Goose- 85 >E, 30 >E and 150 >NE (=265). Grazing Black-beaded Gull taken by a Buzzard (John Gallagher). At Langold Lake 6 Great Crested Grebe, 6m Pochard, 2 Gadwall, 2 Buzzard, Kestrel, 2 Sparrowhawk, m Green Woodpecker, 239 Pink-footed Goose >N and 2 distant Great White Egret >W. >N over Dinnington were 300 Pink-footed Goose and at dusk over South Anston were 250 Pink-footed Goose >S (Mick Clay).

20th December 75 Pink-footed Goose >W over Dinnington at 0930. At Thurcroft Pit Top were 12 Grey Partridge, Little Owl, Tawny Owl and 4 Barn Owl (John Gallagher). c200 Golden Plover at Axle Lane this morning (Bill Buchanan).

17th December c100 Pink-footed Goose >NW over Carlton in Lindrick at 0850 (Mark Smithson).

16th December c40 Pink-footed Goose >W over South Anston (Mick Clay). At Langold Lake today were 3m & 8f Goosander, 7 Great Crested Grebe, 15 Tufted Duck, 53 Mallard, 7 Moorhen, 16 Coot and 6 Mute Swan. At Carlton Lake were 13 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck, 10 Greylag Goose and 2 Mute Swan. Brown Bailey's pond revealed a Little Grebe, Cormorant, 10 Coot and a Heron (Brian Chambers). A Little Egret on the lawned frontage of the big house in Lindrick Dale (Nigel Butler).

15th December 2 Little Egret >W along the Chesterfield Canal towards Tommy Flockton's Marsh (Mick Clay). A Red Kite sat in a hedge at Hodsock (Kevin Hatley).

14th December At Dinnington Marsh were 2 Woodcock, Teal, 15 Lesser Redpoll and 2-3 Willow Tit (Mick Clay & John Gallagher).

13th December Single Bar-tailed Godwit over Slade Hills this morning (John O'Malley). 40 Siskin at Kiveton Pit Top (Kiveton Community Woodland) (Bill Buchanan).

12th December At Langold Lake today were Kingfisher, Water Rail and Cetti's Warbler. At Hodsock were 20 Siskin, 200 Brambling, 50 Greenfinch, 40 House Sparrow, 200 Starling, 100 Linnet, 30 Stock Dove, 50 Pied Wagtail, 200 Fieldfare, 100 Redwing, 5 Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and 3 Red Kite (John Gallagher). M Merlin at Hodsock over the set-aside (John Williamson). Back at Langold Lake were Langold Lake 3 Nuthatch, 2 Grey Wagtail, Kingfisher, Cetti's Warbler, 20 Redwing, 20 Blackbird, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 18 Tufted Duck, Water Rail, Buzzard, m Kestrel and 40 Pink-footed Goose >W. At Langold Holt, a m Green Woodpecker, 62 Fieldfare, Great Spotted Woodpecker and 3 Gadwall (Mick Clay).

11th December At Axle Lane today were 49 Golden Plover, 50 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, 4 Common Gull, 400 Black-headed Gull, 13 Herring Gull, 2 Heron, 8 Grey Partridge and 41 Stock Dove (Mick Clay).

10th December 10 Tree Sparrow in a North Anston garden (Ron Cushing).

9th December At Kiveton Pit Top were 19 Blackbird, 30 Redwing, 2 Cormorant >E and 2 Bullfinch. At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 35 Wigeon, 19 Teal, 4 Mallard and a Sparrowhawk (Brian Chambers). At Langold Lake were 10 Mute Swan, 20+ Siskin and a Buzzard (Mick Scott).

6th December 100 Pink-footed Goose >W over Langold Pit Top (Mick Scott). Cetti's Warbler still present at Langold Lake (Mick Clay).

5th December 80+ Redwing over Langold Pit Top and towards lake and a further 20+ at Rotherham Baulk towards Dinnington. A Buzzard over set a side field below Langold Pit Top (Mick Scott). A Little Egret over Cramfit Road heading for NAPT (Janet Allsop).

3rd December At NAPT were 10 Snipe, Jack Snipe, 2 Woodcock and 3 Lesser Redpoll (Mick Clay).

2nd December 2 Raven and Peregrine at Hodsock (Kevin Hatley).

1st December A Brambling along First Lane (Mick Clay).

29th November 123 Golden Plover at Axle Lane (Mick Clay). 12 Golden Plover at Hodsock (Kevin Hatley). At Kiveton Pit Top this morning were 24 Lesser Redpoll, 22 Siskin, 14 Redwing, 8 Bullfinch, 2 Greenfinch, Little Egret & Mistle Thrush (Bill Buchanan).

28th November The groups wildfowl count from the areas waters included; at Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 34 Wigeon, 2 Teal, 18 Mallard, 4 Cormorant, Heron and 4 Herring Gull >W. Langold Lake held 16 Coot, 32 Mallard, 15 Tufted Duck, 8 Mute Swan, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 86 Canada Goose, Kingfisher, 9 Greylag Goose, Heron, 2 Common Gull, 59 Black-headed Gull, 8 Moorhen, 2 Jay, 6 Siskin and Cetti's Warbler still present. Roche Abbey revealed Water Rail, 2 Mallard, 3 Buzzard and a Kestrel. Firbeck Hall yielded 3 Moorhen, Heron, 2 Teal, m Gadwall and 115 Canada Goose. At Carlton Lake were 2 Mallard, 12 Moorhen, 12 Gadwall, m Goosander, 9 Greylag Goose, 28 Black-headed Gull, Cormorant and a Water Rail. At nearby Brown Bailey's pond were 5 Coot, 17 Tufted Duck, a Great Crested Grebe, 2 Mallard and a Chiffchaff. The final port of call, Hewett Arms pond produced 11 Mallard, 2 Moorhen a Canada Goose and a Cormorant (Mick Clay & Andy Hirst).

27th November By Oldcotes Road, a Red Kite. At Langold Lake were 45 Redwing, 50 Goldfinch, Siskin and a Kingfisher. At Hodsock were 150 Linnet, 22 Stock Dove, 3 Wigeon and 35 Teal. At Carlton Lake were 10 Gadwall (John Gallagher).

26th November At Thurcroft Pit Top today were 5 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 30 Goldfinch, 3 Reed Bunting, 3 Lesser Redpoll >S and single Meadow Pipit. At Thurcroft Marsh was a Kingfisher. Carr produced 30 House Sparrow, Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Little Owl. At Hodsock were 150 Linnet, 2 Raven, 4 Teal and 150 to 200 Brambling (John Gallagher).

25th November A Merlin >W over South Anston (Mick Clay).

23rd November A Red Kite in a field at Dewidales (Woodsetts) (Andy Murray).

21st November 200 Pink-footed Goose >NW over Thurcroft (Mick Clay).

18th November A Little Owl on a roof in Queens Street, Dinnington at 1400 (Farrell Kent).

12th November At Roche Abbey this morning were 4 Mallard, a Little Grebe and 4 Teal (Andy Hirst).

11th November A Woodcock over N. Anston at 0645 (Andy Murray). At Axle Lane were 188 Golden Plover & 3 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

9th November At Roche Abbey today were Water Rail, 4 Bullfinch and Great Spotted Woodpecker. Carlton Lake held 11 Moorhen, 7 Gadwall, 12 Mallard, 2 Coot and 2 Mute Swan. Brown Bailey's pond produced a Great Crested Grebe, 21 Tufted Duck, m Pochard, 4 Mallard and 6 Coot. Hewett Arms pond yielded 8 Mallard, 2 Moorhen and a Kingfisher reported by a fisherman (Brian Chambers). At Langold Lake today were m Shoveler, Brambling, Chiffchaff, m Sparrowhawk, 23 Lapwing > SW, Cetti's Warbler, Grey Wagtail, 20 Siskin, 2 Jay and Red Kite. Langold Holt produced Grey Wagtail, 2 Teal and 2 Little Grebe (John Gallagher).

8th November At Langold Lake this morning was a Cetti's Warbler calling from vegetation by the small lake N of the stone crossing between the 2 main lakes, 8 Mute Swan, 7 Great Crested Grebe, a Kingfisher, Water Rail, 4 Tufted Duck and a Heron (Brian Chambers). Also from Langold Lake; on top lake a m Cetti's Warbler in song and calling (Alec Bonser). At Harry Croft's Quarry birds >W included 5 Rose-ringed Parakeet, single Snow Bunting, 200 Fieldfare and a steady movement of Skylark, in the quarry were 17 Blackbird, 5 Song Thrush, 6 Yellowhammer and a m Green Woodpecker (Mick Clay).

7th November At Langold Lake this morning were Cetti's Warbler, singing/ calling occasionally from scrub by the top lake. Plus 2 Water Rail, Kingfisher, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Tufted Duck, Grey Wagtail, 3 Buzzard also on here; Chiffchaff, Brambling calling, 9 Siskin, Green Woodpecker, 2 Jay, Sparrowhawk and 2 Teal (Mick Clay & Andy Hirst). From Kings Wood Corner were Red Kite, which was on show for over an hour, m Peregrine, m Sparrowhawk, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gull >W, 7 Buzzard, 30 Rook, 2 Great Black-backed Gull >W and 6 Siskin (Andy Hirst).

6th November 2 pairs of Pochard at Langold Lake, plus a new family group of Mute Swan; 2ad & 2imm. (Mick Scott). Also here at Langold Lake on main lake were 8 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Pochard, 4 Tufted Duck, Grey Wagtail, Buzzard and on top lake a m Cetti's Warbler in song and calling (Mick Clay).

5th November >S over First Lane were 40 Fieldfare, 80 Redwing, single Brambling and Lesser Redpoll. On the small pond; a Little Grebe and 54 Mallard, close by, 2 Raven. At Harry Croft's Quarry over a 1.5 hour period, >SW were 1100 Fieldfare, 133 Redwing, 3 Siskin and 400 Starling. Also present were 14 Blackbird, 7 Song Thrush, 2 Buzzard, 2 Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel (Mick Clay). A flock of 100 Redwing and 200 Fieldfare along Rotherham Baulk, Carlton-in-Lindrick (Mark Smithson).

4th November At Hodsock were 100 Greenfinch & 30+ Brambling. At Firbeck were 2 Red Kite quartering the fields (John Gallagher). >S over First Lane were 200 Redwing and 100 Fieldfare (Mick Clay). A Raven over Hodsock (Kevin Hatley).

3rd November 44 Pink-footed Goose >W over Throapham (Andy Hirst). From First Lane, South Anston were 100 Pink-footed Goose >E. At Axle Lane were 400 Pink-footed Goose >S after first going >W over NAPT and a further 54 Pink-footed Goose >W over Axle Lane. Also 100 Redwing >SW, 200 Linnet, single m Brambling on the wall, 200 Skylark and 200 Golden Plover looking to land, plus a Raven >W (Mick Clay). A further 100 Pink-footed Goose over Laughton Common (Andy Murray). Red Kite mobbed by Carrion Crows at Hodsock (Kevin Hatley).

2nd November c100 Pink-footed Goose >S over N. Anston (Andy Murray). Plus 200 Pink-footed Goose >E over Hawks Wood and on First Lane, South Anston; 2 Lesser Redpoll >S and 200 Pink-footed Goose >E (Mick Clay).

1st November At Axle Lane, c2000 Starling, 4 Herring Gull, single Yellow-legged Gull, 400 Black-headed Gull, 200 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 200 Skylark and a Stonechat (Mick Clay).

31st October Several Siskin >SW over a Woodsetts garden (Gareth Picton). At Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 5 Teal, 28 Mallard, 4 Wigeon, 3 Moorhen, 3 Snipe, Cormorant >E and 35 Black-headed Gull (Brian Chambers). At Axle Lane, a Stonechat, c1000 Black-headed Gull,120 Linnet and 800 Starling (Mick Clay).

29th October m Stonechat still present at Axle Lane plus 400 Black headed Gull, 100 Lesser Black-backed Gull and single Golden Plover (Mick Clay). An hour at Hodsock before dusk produced Siskin >S, 6 Black-headed Gull, 4 Pied Wagtail 120 Starling and a Buzzard (Andy Hirst).

28th October At Axle Lane were c1000 Black headed Gull and c300 Starling (Mick Clay).

27th October m Stonechat still present at Axle Lane, plus 400 Black-headed Gull, 6 Herring Gull and 200 Lesser Black-backed Gull (Mick Clay).

26th October m Stonechat still present at Axle Lane, plus 200 Black-headed Gull and 200 Lesser Black-backed Gull (Mick Clay).

25th October At Axle Lane a Stonechat, 200 Black-headed Gull, 4 Herring Gull, Yellow-legged Gull and 200 Lesser Black-backed Gull (Mick Clay).

24th October A Kingfisher through Anston Stones Wood (Andy Murray). A juv. Stonechat by the hole in the wall at Axle Lane, plus Yellow-legged Gull, 200 Black-headed Gull, 8 Herring Gull and 150 Lesser Black-backed Gull (Mick Clay).

23rd October At Langold Lake were 2 Great White Egret feeding at both lakes, one of which is colour ringed AAU- white on red, left leg) UPDATE>>>> Ringed in nest at Ham Wall, Somerset, 23/4/2021. Previously recorded at Stocks Reservoir, Lancs, in July, Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. Also 150 Pink-footed Goose >W (Mick Clay).

16th October At Thurcroft Pit Top, a m Stonechat, Green Woodpecker, 2 Lesser Redpoll >S, 2 Jay, 4 Kestrel, Buzzard and 125 Pink-footed Goose >W (Mick Clay).

15th October 3 Swallow >SE over Woodsetts (Gareth Picton).

13th October 256 Redwing >S over First Lane, were preceded by 10 Redwing over Axle Lane, plus 2 Raven and a Green Woodpecker (Mick Clay). 2 Raven over Throapham this morning (Andy Hirst).

12th October 48 Pink-footed Goose >E over Axle Lane and single Golden Plover on field (Mick Clay).

11th October On First Lane, South Anston were 250 Pink-footed Goose >S and 200 more >E, plus 11 Greylag Goose >W and a Golden Plover >E (Mick Clay). A Raven in Kendall Wood N. Anston today (Andy Murray).

10th October F Peregrine hunting over Axle Lane (Mick Clay).

9th October Over Axle Lane were 5 Redwing >W, m Stonechat on wall, 53 Golden Plover and 30 Lapwing >S and 400 Pink-footed Goose >W (Mick Clay). 250 Pink-footed Goose >W over Throapham (John Williamson & Andy Hirst).

8th October At Harry Croft's Quarry were 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Siskin and single Lesser Redpoll >S, 4 Jay, single Raven, Buzzard and 2 Sparrowhawk. >N over Axle Lane a Snipe (Mick Clay). 150 Pink-footed Goose >E over Anston (Andy Murray). A Red Kite following a tractor on Owday Lane (James Clay).

7th October c200 Pink-footed Goose >E over South Anston (Mick Clay), Picked 2 mins later over Woodsetts (Barry Cartwright).

6th October At Axle Lane a juv. Stonechat and a Wheatear on the wall. Single House Martin and 3 Swallow >S, 300 Linnet, 150 Skylark and 8 Golden Plover. >E over Thurcroft were 350 Pink-footed Goose (Mick Clay & Brian Chambers). At Harry Croft's Quarry were Little Owl, 4 Teal, 2 Snipe, Chiffchaff and Whitethroat (latest ever) (John Hepworth). A Red Kite circled over the S end of Woodsetts at 1207 then drifted >SW (Gareth Picton). 8 Buzzard drifted >S over Dinnington Town Centre (John Gallagher).

5th October At Axle Lane a juv. Stonechat on the wall and single Swallow and House Martin >S (Mick Clay). Circa 60 Pink-footed Goose >SE over Anston this morning (Andy Murray).

4th October At Axle Lane today were 200 Linnet, 110 Skylark, 9 Pied Wagtail and 22 Meadow Pipit all >S, juv. Whinchat by hole in the wall, 200 Black-headed Gull, 50 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 6 Herring Gull (Mick Clay).

3rd October At Langold Lake 3 Buzzard, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Chiffchaff and 3 Great Crested Grebe (Mick Clay).

2nd October A Kingfisher at Langold Lake (Mick Scott). At Axle Lane today were 500 Linnet, 59 Skylark >S, 200 Black-headed Gull, Golden Plover, Kestrel and Buzzard (Mick Clay).

1st October A fem/imm. Merlin hunting near Ledger Lakes (Firbeck Lane), Laughton-en-le-Morthen. At Axle Lane a juv. Wheatear (Mick Clay).

26th September At Axle Lane were 500 Black-headed Gull, 50 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Golden Plover calling, 200 Linnet , 2 Wheatear and 100 Skylark >S (Mick Clay). 2 Red Kite over Brookhouse cricket pitch (Andy Murray).

25th September At Axle Lane were 300 Black-headed Gull, 100 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 31 Golden Plover, 300 Linnet, 66 Meadow Pipit and 73 Skylark >S (Mick Clay) .

24th September 69 Pink-footed Goose >E over South Anston this afternoon. At Axle Lane were 700 Black-headed Gull, 400 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 100 Linnet, 5 Swallow and 67 Skylark >S. Also >N over South Anston were 2 Red Kite (Mick Clay).

21st September A Kingfisher at Langold Lake today (Mick Scott).

20th September At Axle Lane were 400 Black-headed Gull, 300 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Herring Gull, single Yellow-legged Gull and Wheatear. Mid-afternoon over South Anston were 2 Raven circling high (Mick Clay).

19th September At Hodsock were 3 Green Sandpiper >S, with 3 dropping onto waters edge, also 15 Snipe, 31 Black-headed Gull, 13 Teal, 2 Heron and 3 Buzzard. At Axle Lane were 700 Black-headed Gull, 400 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Buzzard and Wheatear (Mick Clay).

18th September At Axle Lane were 700 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 300 Black-headed Gull, 27 Skylark and Yellow Wagtail >S (Mick Clay).

16th September At Hodsock 82 Greylag Goose >E and at First Lane, 4 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

14th September At Hodsock this evening were Buzzard, 11 Snipe, 7 Teal, 4 Black-headed Gull, Heron, 2 Green Sandpiper >N, 37 Pied Wagtail, Great Spotted Woodpecker and 8 Mallard (Andy Hirst). At Harry Croft's Quarry, a Barn Owl hunting (Mick Clay).

13th September At Hodsock this evening were Grey Wagtail, imm. Heron, 8 Teal, 2-4 Green Sandpiper, 130 Linnet, 9 Swallow, 22 Pied Wagtail, 4 Buzzard, 2 House Martin, f Kestrel, Snipe, Cormorant >N (Andy Hirst).

10th September Early evening at Hodsock produced a juv. Redshank, Snipe, 2 Green Sandpiper dropped in, 2 Black-headed Gull and a Yellow Wagtail (Andy Hirst & Mick Clay).

9th September At Hodsock today were 3 Green Sandpiper, Redshank and Little Owl calling (Mick Clay).

8th September At Hodsock today were Green Sandpiper, Redshank and Tree Pipit >S (Mick Clay).

7th September A Grey Plover >E over Harry Croft's Quarry, plus Buzzard, 2 Raven, 10 Yellowhammer, 2 Blackcap, 4 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff, single Whitethroat, Green Woodpecker, 3 Mistle Thrush and a Snipe on the ponds (Mick Clay). Little Egret at Langold Lake today, in the a tree just below weir from the top lake. Also imm. Grey Heron in shallows below. (Mick Scott). Also a Kingfisher here (Brian Chambers).

6th September At Hodsock this morning were Redshank, 4 Snipe and 2 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

5th September At Hodsock this morning were 3 Ruff, Redshank, 8 Snipe, 3 Buzzard, 2 Raven and Tree Pipit >S (Mick Clay). Raven >W over Woodsetts at 1044 calling (Gareth Picton).

4th September At Hodsock today were 2 Green Sandpiper, 3 Ringed Plover, 2 Snipe, Redshank, Little Egret, Buzzard, imm. Hobby, 200 Starling, 40 Swallow and 100 Linnet. The 3 Ringed Plover flew off and an hour later 2 came back, one continued flying- different birds? (Mick Clay).

At Langold Lake were c40 Goldfinch , c30 young Canada Goose flying, testing their flight/ landing skills, Grey Wagtail on weir, Green Woodpecker behind the bandstand field and c20 Swallow feeding low over lake surface (Mick Scott). An evening visit to Hodsock produced 2 Ringed Plover, 5 Ruff, imm f Peregrine, Green Sandpiper, c70 Linnet, imm m Sparrowhawk, 7 Snipe, Sand Martin, c50 Swallow, 2 Yellow Wagtail, 2 Stock Dove, Black-headed Gull, 35 Rook, 8 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Lapwing, Dunlin, Buzzard, hunting Hobby, and an imm Kestrel (Andy Hirst).

30th August At Hodsock this morning were 2 juv. Ruff, 3 Hobby chasing Swallows and Starlings and a Green Sandpiper. Plus 37 Lapwing, 8 Snipe, single Golden Plover >S, 2 Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, 8 Stock Dove, 200 Starling, 100 Swallow, 3 Yellow Wagtail and a Grey Wagtail. At Brampton Common were 74 Swallow, 2 Kestrel, 3 Buzzard and Grey Partridge. At Axle Lane, late afternoon were 59 Swallow, 3 Swift >E and 2juv. Wheatear (Mick Clay). Later that day were still 2 juv. Ruff at Hodsock. Plus 2 Snipe, 35 Lapwing, juv. 15th August Early morning at Hodsock revealed 3 Wood Sandpiper and 5 Green Sandpiper when a Peregrine went through! Plus a Snipe, 40 Lapwing, Buzzard, 5 Yellow Wagtail, Sedge Warbler and 100 Linnet (Mick Clay). 8 Wood Sandpiper reported later again at Hodsock (per BirdGuides).

14th August At Tommy Flockton’s Marsh were 52 Black-headed Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 62 Mallard & 5 Moorhen (Brian Chambers). At Hodsock were 3 Wood Sandpiper, 4 Green Sandpiper and Greenshank >S, 3 Snipe, 33 Lapwing, 36 Black-headed Gull, 3 Buzzard, 5 Yellow Wagtail, Sedge Warbler and 100 Linnet (Mick Clay).

8th August With birders present most of the day at Hodsock, the following were recorded; 11 Wood Sandpiper, 8 flew off, 3 returned, adding to the 3 already present. 6 Wood Sandpiper remained until early evening, plus 5 Snipe, Green Sandpiper dropped in during the day, with a total of 6, 2 flew off leaving 4 in view, 56 Lapwing, 3 Common Sandpiper, 135 Black-headed Gull, 6 Teal, 60 Mallard, 4 Yellow Wagtail, 4 Sand Martin, 40 House Martin, several hundred Swallow through, 46 Pied Wagtail, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Buzzard, c500 Starling, 10 Swift, m Peregrine and Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay & Andy Hirst).

15th May A Black Kite circled S. Anston before drifting off >E between 1148-1151 (Mick Clay). What was probably the same bird (a large raptor, not a Buzzard) was seen continuing >E over Woodsetts at 1200 (Gareth Picton). This is probably the same bird seen in Derbyshire (Wyver Lane) mid week? At Dinnington Pit top were Blackcap, Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff and a Whitethroat. In Kings Wood/ Roche Abbey area were 2m Mallard, 3 Blackcap and 2 Grey Wagtail. In Long Thwaite Wood and surrounding fields were 2 Skylark, 4 Yellowhammer, m Reed Bunting and m Linnet (Alfie Bloor).

26th April At Thurcroft Pit Top were 2 pairs of Grey Partridge and pair of Stonechat (John Gallagher). A Grasshopper Warbler and Sedge Warbler singing at W side of Kiveton fisheries at Kiveton Pit Top, plus Oystercatcher on Tommy Flockton's Marsh as well as 5 Swift circling and feeding high over South Anston and 5 House Martin >N (Mick Clay). Further reports of Swift at Carlton (Mark Smithson). 3 Buzzard over Eastfield Lane. At Kings Wood Corner were Stock Dove, 10 Buzzard, 2 Swallow, 2 Kestrel, m Sparrowhawk, 3 Mallard a Red Kite & Raven. At Langold Lake were 7 Mute Swan inc. a pair on a nest, 2 pairs of Great Crested Grebe, 12 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 4 Greylag Goose, 12 Coot inc. 2 juv's, 5 Moorhen, Heron and a Buzzard. At NAPT late afternoon was a Reed Warbler, 2 pairs of Lapwing and a Snipe (Andy Hirst).

19th April In the field south of Long Thwaite Wood, across Lamb Lane were 2 Yellow Wagtail and 2 Red-legged Partridge (Alfie Bloor). At Axle Lane a Whitethroat nest building (Mick Clay).

17th April A Red Kite drifted over Woodsetts @ 1149 (Gareth Picton). Over Kiveton Community Woodlands/ Kiveton Pit Top were 2 Shelduck >W, also here were 6 Willow Warbler (Brian Chambers). 3 Yellow Wagtail in Rapeseed field near Long Thwaite wood, plus Red Kite over Long Thwaite Wood. At Dinnington Pit Top were 2 Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff and 2 Blackcap. At North Anston Pit top were Blackcap, Chiffchaff and 2 Willow Warbler. Along Thurcroft mineral line were 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warbler, 2 Blackcap, 2 Mistle Thrush, m&f Mallard and 2 Song Thrush. On Thurcroft Pit Top were 10 Willow Warbler, 2 Song Thrush, 26 Lesser Redpoll, 3 Skylark, 3 Reed Bunting, 2 Blackcap, 7 Chiffchaff, Yellowhammer, 2 Bullfinch, 2 Linnet and 2 Meadow Pipit.

Near Brookhouse were Yellowhammer and Lapwing. Over Long Thwaite wood was a Red Kite. In a field by Long Thwaite wood was a Skylark. In the field south of Long Thwaite wood across Lamb Lane were 3 Yellow Wagtail and 8 Linnet. On Langold Pit Top were 5 Chiffchaff, Green Woodpecker, 2 Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Willow Warbler and 6 Skylark. At Hodsock were 2 Yellowhammer, 7 Lapwing and 2 Swallow. Near Gildingwells were 3 Skylark, Blackcap and a Yellowhammer. Down Brands Lane were 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Red-legged Partridge and a Buzzard (Alfie Bloor).

At Thurcroft Pit Top were 14 Willow Warbler, 4 Chiffchaff, 13 Lesser Redpoll >N and 3 Buzzard (Mick Clay).

16th April At Hodsock were 26 Lapwing and 4 Swallow (Brian Chambers). Results of a Nocturnal Migration (noc-mig) recording last night included a Little Grebe over Dinnington at 2208 (Alfie Bloor). At Axle a m Yellow Wagtail. At Harry Croft's Quarry were 2 Chiffchaff, 4 Willow Warbler, 2 Blackcap, Little Ringed Plover, 2 m Green Woodpecker and f Wheatear in field close by (Mick Clay).

15th April At Long Thwaite Wood this morning were 2 Blackcap, 300+ Fieldfare, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Buzzard, 7 Chiffchaff, 2 Yellowhammer and 11 Linnet. Along the path above the woods, a m Wheatear (John Williamson). At Harry Croft's Quarry were 3 Sand Martin >N and f Wheatear. At Kings Wood corner were Red Kite and 11 Buzzard and at Hodsock were 15 Lapwing with at least 4 nests and single Oystercatcher (Mick Clay).

14th April A m Yellow Wagtail and m Wheatear at Tommy Flockton's Marsh this morning. At Brown Bailey’s were a pair of Coot feeding 8 young. Also here were 9 Sand Martin (Brian Chambers). On First Lane were 14 Fieldfare >N. At Harry Croft's Quarry were m & f Sparrowhawk, 3 Little Ringed Plover with 2 flying off >E, 2 Willow Warbler, 6 Sand Martin >N, House Martin >W, Yellow Wagtail >N and a Buzzard over Anston Stones Wood plus 6 Buzzard over Hawks Wood (Mick Clay). Down Brands Lane were 2 Pied Wagtail, 2 Mistle Thrush, 15 Stock Dove, 4 Skylark and 2 Red-legged Partridge. At Letwell were 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Skylark, 4 Linnet, Grey Partridge and 2 Lapwing. In the fields N of Firbeck was a Buzzard. Near Kings Wood were 6 Buzzard, 4 Red-legged Partridge and 12 Skylark (Alfie Bloor).

Along the Dinnington- Thurcroft Mineral Line and Dinnington Marsh were 4 Chiffchaff, 2 Greylag Goose over, Buzzard, 12 Lesser Redpoll, m+f Bullfinch and a Willow Warbler singing (Alfie Bloor).

31st March At Hodsock today were 15 Lapwing, 2 Buzzard and Sparrowhawk. At Red Lane, Carlton in Lindrick were Green Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming, 3 Chiffchaff, Blackcap, 16 Sand Martin, Buzzard and Sparrowhawk. At Harry Croft's Quarry were 3 Little Owl. At Kings Wood Corner were 14 Buzzard, 3 Red Kite, 3 Kestrel and Sparrowhawk (Alfie Bloor & Mick Clay).

Down Brands Lane were 5 Skylark, 4 Yellowhammer, 2 Linnet and 7 Buzzard. To the NE of Woodsetts were 4 Skylark, Grey Partridge, Buzzard and a Chiffchaff. At Hodsock were 2 Grey Partridge, 2 Buzzard, 10+ Yellowhammer, 20+ Skylark, 11 Lapwing and 3 Meadow Pipit. On Langold Pit Top were 20+ Skylark, Sparrowhawk, Reed Bunting and 3 Chiffchaff. 30th March 2 Crossbill >NE over Anston cemetery. 2 Red Kite over Rhodesia. In Harry Croft's Quarry were 2 Grey Partridge, Chiffchaff, 10 Meadow Pipit, Kestrel, 5 Buzzard over, Red Kite over, 8 Canada Goose, 2 Sand Martin and 2 Swallow. Down Brands Lane were 2 Grey Partridge and a Buzzard. At Gildingwells were Chiffchaff, Buzzard, and Yellowhammer. At Letwell were 2 Skylark. In the field to the W of Carlton in Lindrick were 2 Lapwing and 4 Buzzard over. In the field off Eastfield Lane, near King's Wood were m and f Wheatear Also here were 14 Buzzard and a Red Kite. Barn Owl in the field off Dinnington Road near Woodsetts (Alfie Bloor). Redshank at Hodsock Flash (Brian Chambers).

Also 4 Buzzard over Anston Stones Wood, 3 Buzzard over Shireoaks, 3 Buzzard over Hawks Wood, 2 Buzzard over Lindrick Dale, 2 Buzzard over NAPT and 16 Buzzard at Kings Wood Corner with 3 Red Kite, Peregrine and Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay). At Hodsock before dusk were Backcap, Chiffchaff, 2 Redshank, 10 Lapwing, 30+ Pied Wagtail, 2 Yellowhammer, 2 m Wheatear, Little Ringed Plover, 20 Linnet and 4 Grey Heron (Andy Hirst). Day totals were 7 Red Kite, 43 Buzzard and 6 Wheatear.

At Kiveton Pit Top (Kiveton Community Woodland) were 14 Chiffchaff and 6 Bullfinch. At Harry Croft's Quarry were 2 Kestrel, f Sparrowhawk, f Wheatear, 8 Yellowhammer Butterflies included a Comma and 2 Brimstone and over Anston Stones Wood were 2 Buzzard (Mick Clay). 12+ Skylark and a flock of 40+ Linnet at Red Lane, Carlton in Lindrick (Roz Hilditch).

5th March Around Carlton Lake today were 2 Greylag Goose, 2 Mute Swan, 4 Mallard, Little Grebe, 2 Moorhen, 2 Coot, 10 Black-headed Gull, Common Gull, Grey Heron, 2 Sparrowhawk, 4 Buzzard, 2 Tawny Owl calling all night, Green Woodpecker, Jay & Kestrel, plus 100 Rook near the main road next to the primary School at Carlton-in-Lindrick as well as Yellowhammer & Reed Bunting. By the Civic Centre were 2 Skylark, Chiffchaff, 5 Long-tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, 2 Wren, 50 Starling, 2 Dunnock and 35 House Sparrow (Mark Smithson). In the horse field by Owday Lane near South Carlton were c55 Fieldfare and 4 Redwing. Also from Carlton-in-Lindrick, in a field next to South Carlton were 64 Greylag Goose. On Carlton Lake were 2 Canada Goose, 7 Greylag Goose, 2 Mute Swan, 3 Moorhen, 4 Coot, m&f Gadwall and a Cormorant (Alfie Bloor).

28th February At Thurcroft Pit Top this morning were 9 Reed Bunting, Kestrel, 2 Grey Partridge, 4 Yellowhammer, 3m 2f Stonechat and a Buzzard (John Williamson). At Kiveton Pit Top a Barn Owl showing well also Chiffchaff calling (Alfie Bloor, John Williamson, John Gallagher & Mick Clay) plus a further Chiffchaff calling at Tommy Flockton's Marsh (John Gallagher).

27th February In the fallow field off Sandy Lane, Swinston Hill there were 70+ Yellowhammer. At Lindrick Golf Course there were 13 Linnet, Green Woodpecker, Jay and 2 singing Song Thrush. Around the fields between Lindrick Golf Course and Dewidales Wood was a Barn Owl. Over Moses Seat wood, a Buzzard. (Alfie Bloor). f Merlin perched near 12th tee at Lindrick Golf Course by footpath to Lindrick Common (Brian Chambers).

26th February At Axle Lane were 46 Skylark, mainly in pairs and in song. At Langold Lake were 4 Nuthatch, 4 Song Thrush, m Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, Sparrowhawk, 4 Great Crested Grebe and 2m Pochard. At Gildingwells, a Buzzard sat on post in horse paddock (Mick Clay).

25th February At Thurcroft Pit Top were 2 Raven, 2m Stonechat, 4 Grey Partridge, Goosander >S and 4 Woodcock (Mick Clay).

23rd February 2 Raven >W over Langold Lake, plus 3 Nuthatch, 3 Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, 60 Lesser Redpoll, 30 Chaffinch, m& f Sparrowhawk displaying, 3 Buzzard, 6 Great Crested Grebe and 14 Tufted Duck (Mick Clay).

22nd February At Kiveton Pit Top, a Long-eared Owl and Barn Owl hunting, plus Little Owl calling close by (Alfie Bloor, John Williamson & Mick Clay).

21st February Dusk at Thurcroft Pit Top produced 2 Blackbird, 4 House Sparrow, Barn Owl, 5 Grey Partridge, 2m 1f Stonechat, Snipe and a probable Woodcock (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay, John Williamson and Alfie Bloor).

20th February Early morning in Carlton Wood produced 11 Song Thrush, 6 Nuthatch, Meadow Pipit over, 3 Dunnock, 18 Blue Tit, 10 Great Tit, 13 Chaffinch, 5 Blackbird, 21 Robin, 4 Coal Tit, 2 Buzzard, 5 Wren, 4 Stock Dove and 4 Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Greenfinch. At Carlton Lake were 4 Herring Gull >S, 66 Lapwing in 2 flocks >S, 3 Moorhen, 3 Coot, 53 Black-headed Gull, 3 Mute Swan, 3 Skylark, and 3 Reed Bunting (Andy Hirst, Mick Clay & Alfie Bloor). Down Brands Lane today was a Buzzard. At Letwell there was a Buzzard also. In the set aside field behind old St Leger Pub, Laughten-en-le-Morthen were 6 Brambling, 30+ Linnet and 50+ Chaffinch. At Brookhouse there were 3 Buzzard and a Grey Wagtail (Alfie Bloor).

At Langold Lake this afternoon were 92 Black-headed Gull, 14 Pied Wagtail, 15 Tufted Duck, 15 Coot, 25 Mallard, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag Goose, m Gadwall, 6 Moorhen, m Kestrel, 4 Siskin, Green Woodpecker and 4 Herring Gull >S. At Honey Hills were m Kestrel, at least 90 Chaffinch and m Reed Bunting (Andy Hirst).

17th February At Tommy Flockton’s Marsh today were 37 Wigeon, 4 Teal, 17 Mallard and a Little Egret (Brian Chambers).

16th February At Langold Lake were m & f Shoveler, m Pochard, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 11 Tufted Duck, 4 drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker, m Green Woodpecker, 2 singing Mistle Thrush and Song Thrush, 11 Lapwing >N and at Honey Hills, 45 Chaffinch. On the top pond at Langold Lake were a further m & f Shoveler and m Goosander (Mick Clay). At Red Lane were 10+ Skylark, 100+ Fieldfare plus a flock of Siskin, 3 Buzzard and 2 Grey Partridge (Roz Hilditch per Twitter).

At Kiveton Community Woodland (Kiveton Pit Top) were 19 Robin, 6 Fieldfare, 12 Dunnock, 3 Wren, 16 Reed Bunting, f Kestrel, 8 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Song Thrush, 11 Bullfinch & 2 Yellowhammer (John Williamson). In Harry Croft's Quarry a Buzzard, Little Owl and 4 Grey Partridge (Mick Clay). In a fallow field off Swinston Hill Road, Dinnington were 5 Greenfinch, 150+ Yellowhammer, c20 Reed Bunting, 2 Chaffinch, 3 Goldfinch and 70+ Linnet plus a Brambling in a garden on Swinston Hill, Dinnington (Alfie Bloor).

7th February In a field off Swinston Hill Road were 3 Yellowhammer and 2 Reed Bunting. In Anston Stones Wood was a f Sparrowhawk. Over Axle Lane, a Skylark singing. At Tommy Flockton's Marsh there were 48 Mallard, 31 Wigeon and a Buzzard. At Kiveton Community Woodland was a Kestrel, m Reed Bunting and Lesser Redpoll over (Alfie Bloor). In Little Stones, near Anston Stones Wood, a Barn Owl hunting at 1615 (James Clay etal).

5th February At Dinnington Marsh this evening, a Barn Owl hunting in far field, also Buzzard and Sparrowhawk (Mick Clay).

4th February At Kiveton Pit Top today, a m Goosander on the fishing ponds. On the pit top were 34 Wigeon >W and 59 Pink-footed Goose >S, appeared to be lost in fog. Also here were 2 Water Rail, 8 Reed Bunting, 19 Lesser Redpoll, 2 Siskin, 5 Goldcrest, f Sparrowhawk, a pair of Kestrel, Song Thrush and 10 Robin. On Tommy Flockton's Marsh, in foggy conditions were 6 Teal, 6 Gadwall and c100 Fieldfare flew off >S (Mick Clay).

3rd February A Little Egret >W over First Lane (James Clay).

31st January Early morning walk round Langold Lake revealed 31 species. Highlights included Green Woodpecker, flock of at least 26 Siskin, m Pochard & a Grey Wagtail (Anthony Reed). In the set aside behind the old St. Ledger Pub, Laughton-en-le-Morthen there were 500 Linnet, 100+ Chaffinch and at least 5 Brambling (Brian Chambers). Little Egret >E over Lindrick Dale early morning, plus 2 birds >W later, along the Chesterfield Canal. One landing near First Lane (Mick Clay).

30th January In the set aside behind the old St. Ledger Pub, Laughton-en-le-Morthen there were 100+ Chaffinch, 16 Goldfinch, 5 Brambling, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and c80 Linnet. In King's Wood there were c61 Siskin, Buzzard and Woodcock. At Roche Abbey were 5m & 4f Mallard, m Gadwall and a Moorhen (Alfie Bloor). 29th January Dusk at Thurcroft Pit Top produced Barn Owl, several Grey Partridge and a Tawny Owl (Mick Clay & John Williamson).

28th January On a flooded Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 62 Mallard, 34 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, Teal and Little Egret (Mick Clay). At Thurcroft Pit Top were Barn Owl, Woodcock and 5 Grey Partridge (John Williamson & Mick Clay).

25th January In the fallow field behind the old St. Ledger Pub, Laughton-en-le-Morthen, were 30+ Chaffinch, Brambling, 2 Kestrel and m Sparrowhawk (Alfie Bloor).

24th January Early morning at Langold Lake produced 3 Brambling, 13 Blackbird, 13 Robin, Green Woodpecker, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4 Nuthatch, 15 Goldfinch, 18 Linnet, 34 Chaffinch, 3 Bullfinch, Lesser Redpoll, 4 Common Gull, 73 Black-headed Gull, 6 Mute Swan, 20 Coot, 13 Tufted Duck, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 7 Greylag Goose, 6 Moorhen, 23 Mallard, Kestrel and a Jay. At nearby Carlton Lake was a single Little Egret, 2 Water Rail, 33 Black-headed Gull, a pair of Mute Swan, a pair of Gadwall, 2 Moorhen, 30+ Greylag Goose and a Coot. By Firbeck Hall were 9 Mallard, 1m 2f Gadwall, 5 Moorhen and 6 Coot. Around Carr Hill were 64 Herring Gull, with a further 500+ in fields N of mast. 21 Golden Plover, flocks of c50 & 60 Skylark, 25 Red-legged Partridge, 3 Buzzard, 67 Carrion Crow and 4 Stock Dove (Andy Hirst). In woodland on Lakeland Drive, a Tawny Owl Calling (Alfie Bloor).

23rd January A Raven over Langold Lake, plus 6m 2f Tufted Duck, 16 Coot, 2 Mute Swan, 6 Moorhen, 8 Siskin, m Pochard, 2 Great Crested Grebe, Treecreeper, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker and Nuthatch. In the fallow field to the south of the lake was a pair of Brambling, 40+ Chaffinch, c90 Linnet, Green Woodpecker, and a m Sparrowhawk (Alfie Bloor). At Axle Lane today were Kestrel, Cormorant, 40+ Meadow Pipit, 35 Carrion Crow and a Buzzard (Den & Jan Jarrold).

22nd January Along Brands Lane were 3 Linnet, 3 Yellowhammer, 4 Common Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, 7 Skylark, Sparrowhawk and 7 Grey Partridge (Alfie Bloor).

20th January A Woodcock took flight from a Todwick garden (Geoff Downs).

19th January Along First Lane today were 27 Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting and 2 Little Grebe on the small pond at Harry Croft's (Mick Clay). In Harry Croft's Quarry there were 2 Herring Gull over, Grey Wagtail, Green Woodpecker, Reed Bunting, 12 Yellowhammer and m Kestrel (Alfie Bloor).

18th January A Little Egret at Woodsetts Sewage Works (Gareth Picton). At the rear of the old St. Ledger pub at Laughton-en-le-Morthen; 4 Brambling in a small finch flock and at at Roche Abbey a Marsh Tit and Raven (John Gallagher). A Little Egret >E along the Chesterfield Canal (Mick Clay).

17th January At Langold Lake this morning were f Grey Wagtail, 17 Lesser Redpoll, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 5 Reed Bunting, m Kestrel, 3m &1f Brambling, Bullfinch, 7 Siskin, m Sparrowhawk , 5 Goldcrest, Water Rail & 3 Buzzard (John Williamson). At Tommy Flockton's Marsh first thing were 3 Mistle Thrush, 62 Wigeon, 5 Teal, 11 Cormorant, 36 Mallard, Kestrel, 3m 2f Gadwall, 5 Moorhen, 3 Herring Gull >W, Great Black-backed Gull >N and 3 Black-headed Gull. Harry Croft's Quarry revealed 10 Rook, 8 Blackbird, 2 Grey Wagtail, 17 Meadow Pipit, 3 Great Black-backed Gull >W, 2 Herring Gull >SW, 7 Mallard, Woodcock, Snipe, 3 Skylark, Lesser Redpoll >N and a Buzzard. At Roche Abbey were 31 Siskin, 3 Nuthatch, Marsh Tit, 6 Yellowhammer >W, Little Grebe, Moorhen, 2 Mallard, Buzzard and a Jay. Water remains at Hodsock Flash and produced 46 Black-headed Gull, 2 Mute Swan, 8 Meadow Pipit, Kestrel, 6 Blackbird, 67 Starling, Buzzard and 12 Pied Wagtail. Thornbury Hill yielded a f Peregrine hunting Woodpigeon, Raven, Sparrowhawk and 5 Stock Dove (Andy Hirst). A Tawny Owl calling on Swinston Hill Road (Alfie Bloor). At Kiveton Pit Top were 3 Water Rail calling,16 Lesser Redpoll, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and 70 Fieldfare. On Tommy Flockton's Marsh were 56 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, 10 Teal, 17 Mallard and 17 Redwing (Mick Clay).

13th January Along First Lane today were 2 Buzzard, m Kestrel, Sparrowhawk and on small the pond; 10 Mallard, 4 Teal, 4 Gadwall and 3 Little Grebe (Mick Clay). 4 Cormorant over Axle Lane, plus c50 Fieldfare, 35 Black-headed Gull and 17 Pied Wagtail (Jan & Den Jarrold).

12th January On the top lake at Langold Lake, a pair of Goosander (Mick Scott). At Axle Lane today were 106 Fieldfare and 40 Skylark (Mick Clay).

11th January A m Blackcap in gardens close to Lindrick Road, Woodsetts (Gareth Picton). Also 87 Lesser Redpoll on Lindrick Golf Course (Barry Cartwright). Along First Lane a Buzzard, m Kestrel and 6 Stock Dove. On the small pond (Harry Croft's Pond) were 26 Mallard, 4 Teal, 6 Gadwall and 2 Little Grebe (Mick Clay).

10th January Down Brands Lane today were 2 Pied Wagtail, 6 Grey Partridge, Cormorant >SE, 3 Blackbird and 3 Long-tailed Tit. At Gildingwells were 30+ House Sparrow, Buzzard, Lapwing and a Kestrel. At Langold Lake there were 130+ Black-headed Gull, 5 Common Gull, 3 Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, 37 Mallard, 5 Coot, 3 Canada Goose, 7 Mute Swan, 4 Moorhen, m Goosander, 2m Gadwall, 3 Siskin, 2 Cormorant over and a Grey Heron. In the woodland glade to the S of the lake towards Honey Hills, there was a Woodcock. In the hedgerow by the set aside field there were 20+ Chaffinch, m Reed Bunting, 3 Brambling, 15 Linnet, and c40 Fieldfare. In Harry Croft's Quarry were 32 Jackdaw, 2 Raven, Jack Snipe, Grey Wagtail, 4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Song Thrush, Blackbird and 2 Linnet (Alfie Bloor). At Anston Grange farm 32 Collared Dove. Along First Lane were 5 Buzzard and 28 Yellowhammer (Mick Clay).

9th January A Water Rail at Langold Lake this morning (Kevin Hatley). At Axle Lane were 78 Fieldfare,12 Golden Plover and 6 Cormorant >N. Tommy Flockton's Marsh held 7 Gadwall and 45 Wigeon. Along the Chesterfield Canal; Marsh Tit and a Buzzard. By Anston Grange Farm were 60 Skylark (Mick Clay). Also 2 Crossbill flew into Kings Wood (Andy Murray).

8th January Along First Lane, South Anston were 2 Raven, m Kestrel, Buzzard and 3 Little Grebe on Harry Croft's Pond (Mick Clay). A f Tawny Owl calling on Swinston Hill Road in the evening (Alfie Bloor). At Axle Lane today were 40 Fieldfare, 4 Meadow Pipit and 12 Black-headed Gull. Plus 15 Blackbird in a S.Anston garden (Den & Jan Jarrold). 10 Golden Plover at Axle Lane (Mick Clay).

7th January At Harry Croft's Quarry were a Buzzard, Kestrel, Little Owl, Jack Snipe, 5 Song Thrush, 23 Meadow Pipit and 8 Pied Wagtail (Mick Clay).

6th January A m Blackcap in a Woodsetts garden today, coming to feeders (Nigel Butler). on First Lane, South Anston were 100 Rook, Raven and a Buzzard (Mick Clay).

5th January At Axle Lane today were 66 Fieldfare, 22 Pied Wagtail, 4 Meadow Pipit, 75 Black-headed Gull and a Buzzard (Mick Clay).

4th January At First Lane, a Buzzard, 12 Yellowhammer, 2 Great Black-backed Gull >N and at Harry Croft's Pond, by the Chesterfield Canal, 4 Gadwall and Little Grebe. At Harry Croft's Quarry, Jack Snipe, 3 Song Thrush and Raven. Also dead Jack Snipe just by entrance to First Lane off Worksop Road (Mick Clay).

At NAPT this morning were Woodcock, 7 Snipe, 8 Blue Tit, 6 Jackdaw, 15 Fieldfare, 7 Great Tit, just 5 Linnet, Kestrel, 60 Black-headed Gull, 5 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Reed Bunting, 11 (mostly ad's) Herring Gull >S, Cormorant >NW, Stock Dove, Yellowhammer>SE, 5m & 6f Bullfinch, Moorhen and imm. f Sparrowhawk. At Langold Lake this morning were 3 Nuthatch, 38 Tufted Duck, 200 Black-headed Gull, 6 Greylag Goose, just 8 Canada Goose, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 48 Mallard, 5ad & 1imm Mute Swan, 13 Coot, 10 Moorhen, f Grey Wagtail, 2m Goosander and 2m & 1f Gadwall. Firbeck revealed 2 Stock Dove, Lesser Redpoll over, 223 Canada Goose, 18 Greylag Goose, 4 Coot and 4 Mallard. From Buckwood Farm were Buzzard, 10 Linnet, Green Woodpecker, 6 Goldfinch and a Jay (Andy Hirst).

2nd January At Thurcroft Pit Top were Woodcock, Barn Owl and Tawny Owl (John Gallagher). m&f Tawny Owl calling to each other from the small field opposite Tesco car wash. M flying low over field to trees behind Chindit Court (John Williamson). Stonechat and 70 Herring Gull at Thurcroft Pit Top. A Brambling in with the finch flock at Langold Lake, just S of the band stand (Mick Clay). 6 Lapwing in fields nr Dewidales Wood, plus c100 Linnet and 21 Lesser Redpoll on Lindrick Golf Course (Barry Cartwright). 15 Blackbird in a S. Anston garden (Den & Jan Jarrold).
